Details below (remember these were written many years ago): ********************************************************************************** ~ GAELIC PARK 1972 ~ Well don't that just beat all! Get back, I say. Guess what? There are 4-- count 'em FOUR -- audience tapes from Gaelic Park in 1972. And they are all pretty good for 1972 tapes. 8/16/72 Gaelic Park, The Bronx, NY. 77mins The First is the complete one, probably on a 90min tape, with the Firebird through about 30seconds of applause past the encore. I got mine, which sounds like 5th gen or so, from WennyK, so I'll refer to it as WK1 from here on . This one was also edited down to a 60min tape by the tapers at one point, before they circulated it, with lots of the talking between the songs edited out. Hence Pete's transcription on FY. [phundercover: this is probably the version circulated by Doinker] The 2nd tape is the Mystery One sent to me earlier this summer from Bill B., hence I will refer to it as BB. A totally different recording, and the best one. Sounds like it was done from a mic stand high above the crowd or very near the PA. Truly great. The tape was one 90min and the Gaelic parts included started about 2mins into SibKhat, and had conveniently spliced out the part where Jon says "good to be back in NY" afterwards. I'll let you ponder the reason for that. Oddly, it also splices out Alan's intro before AYAI and some of Jon's trying to calm the crowd before HOTS. Also missing are the first notes of Roundabout, a 2min. chunk near the end of HOTS and the entire Mood For A Day. Instead of Mood, however, it splices in a SBD Clap>Mood>Clap arrangement. There was also the Mystery CTTE on that tape. (More on this below) (BB Hybrid: 76:41) 01. Firebird (WK1) 1:19 02. Siberian Khatru (WK1/BB/WK1 after) 9:28 03. I've Seen All Good People (BB/WK1 after) 7:13 04. Jon & Steve calm the crowd (WK1/NM) 0:35 05. Clap (NM) 2:59 06. Jon calms the crowd (NM/BB) 1:15 07. Heart Of The Sunrise (BB/NM) 11:16 08. AYAI intro (NM/BB)1:36 09. And You And I (BB) 9:32 10. Rick Intro (BB) 0:23 11. Rick Wakeman Solo (BB) 6:26 12. Roundabout (BB/WK1 after) 8:17 13. encore applause (WK1/NM/BB) 1:49 14. Yours Is No Disgrace (BB/WK1)14:22 [The version I have has had the speed adjusted so the timings are slightly different] The 3rd tape is a new one, just unearthed this year, and is complete from Steve's solo on (which means no Firebird, Siberian or AGP) and it's the second best tape. The taper has a handheld mic and there's a little noise from shuffling that around, and some nearby clapping which means those big clap spikes, but the dynamics are great and it's from the Master, so there! (NM Hybrid: 76:26) 01. Firebird (WK1) 1:19 02. Siberian Khatru (WK1/BB) 9:28 03. I've Seen All Good People (BB/WK1 after) 7:14 04. Jon & Steve calm the crowd (WK1/NM) 0:35 05. Clap (NM) 2:58 06. Jon calms the crowd (NM) 1:01 07. Heart Of The Sunrise (NM) 11:24 08. AYAI intro (NM)1:36 09. And You And I (NM) 9:22 10. Rick Intro (NM) 0:38 11. Rick Wakeman Solo (NM) 6:20 12. Roundabout (NM/BB/WK1) 8:22 13. Encore applause (WK1/BB/NM) 1:52 14. Yours Is No Disgrace (NM/WK1)14:22 [I think this is the 'EP Hybrid'; again there has been a speed adjustment so the timings are slightly different] Each tape has different dynamics, though and is very nice in it's own right. Unfortunately, the Old, complete Gaelic (WK1) that I have is not so great, probably just the generation. To make each one complete, I've put pieces of them together, cross-faded the patches matched the speed of each, but I'm still looking for a super-low gen of the complete recording, which of course, means i get to do it all over again. 8/16/72 Gaelic Park, The Bronx, NY. 73m Here's the old one from Bill B. which he couldn't identify. i was sure it was this show, only sourced without all Jon's chatter removed. Now I know a little better. It was all out of order and put together to construct a Fantasy show with a Mystery CTTE added. I reconstructed it before I could compare it with another from this show. Steve's interesting arrangement of Clap>Mood>Clap arrangement before which Jon says: "I feel like singing. I enjoy singing," and Steve says: "We're just gonna wait for some things to come through the line....it sounded real good this afternoon." Don't know where that comes from offhand -- anybody?-- but it sounds like a board tape and i've never heard this arrangement before. It could also be "doctored," I suppose, but I think not. This whole tape was out of order and I had to reconstruct it, which isn't the best possible scenario, but it's fun if you're in the mood to do that. The Mystery CTTE i think is from one of the Vinyl Yessongs boots. Maybe the Clap/Mood/Clap thing is from that, too, dunno. It's very clean -- too clean for vinyl. Now that I've done this twice, I'm not so sure the YIND on this one is actually FROM this show, the sound is very different. I'll have to check into this when the 4th (New version1?) tape arrives. (One Disc: 73:00) 1. Siberian Khatru (fades in) 8:39 2. I've Seen All Good People 7:02 3. Heart Of The Sunrise 10:35 4. Clap 2:50 5. Mood For a Day 2:47 6. Clap (reprise) 0:55 7. AYAI intro 1:22 8.
