Setlist: Disc 1 (1:19:42) 1.01 Announcements (2.00) 1.02 Firebird Suite (3.22) 1.03 Siberian Khatru (10.06) 1.04 Starship Trooper (12.34) 1.05 In The Presence Of (11.41) 1.06 We Have Heaven (1.36) 1.07 South Side Of The Sky (10.29) 1.08 Close To The Edge (21.59) 1.09 Winter (2.16) 1.10 In The Course Of The Day (3.39) Disc 2 (1:12:36) 2.01 Happy Birthday Improv (1.23) 2.02 Show Me (3.57) 2.03 Rick Wakeman Solo (2.24) 2.04 Wonderous Stories (2.01) 2.05 And You And I (2.28) 2.06 Heart Of The Sunrise (12.59) 2.07 Magnification (7.51) 2.08 Don't Kill The Whale (5.15) 2.09 Long Distance Runaround (3.48) 2.10 Whitefish (10.25) 2.11 Awaken (20.05) Disc 3(11.39) 3.01 Roundabout (11.39) (Disc 1 is set 1, Disc 2 is set two, and Disc 3 is the encore.) Lineage: ALD/SBD > D8 (listen box--from the parking lot) DAT > CDR Bandmembers: Jon Anderson - vocals Chris Squire - bass, vocals Steve Howe - guitars Rick Wakeman - keyboards Alan White - drums & percussion Editing notes: * Show was recorded out-of-phase; show was phase-corrected (to be "in-phase") via Cool Edit Pro * Re-tracked show by combining in Nero, splitting with CD Wave * Removed 10 seconds of applause between Track 108 and Track 109 due to significant volume fluctuations (Jim says this may be "gating", where the sound engineers turn on/off the on-stage mics. Either way, it was annoying...but now it's gone.) * Deleted 22 seconds of applause at beginning of disc/set 2 and faded in with Nero * Deleted 2:22 of audience applause at the end of Track 301 and faded out with Nero Additional notes: * The versions of "Wonderous Stories" (track 204) and "And You And I" (track 205) are performed as part of a medley and are not the full-length original versions * The entire show runs 164:07...which is unfortunately too long for two 80-minute CDs. Jim thought it would be best to leave set 1 intact on disc 1 (79:46) and set 2 intact on disc 2 (72:41), which leaves the encore (Roundabout) by itself on disc 3 (11:39). **ALTERNATE CD-BURNING APPROACH** (read accompanying notes below) For those like me who prefer only 2 CDs, burn the files as follows: CD #1: 102. Firebird Suite > 103. Siberian Khatru 104. Starship Trooper 105. In The Presence Of 106. We Have Heaven > 107. South Side Of The Sky 108. Close To The Edge 109. Winter 110. In The Course Of The Day 201. Happy Birthday improv CD #2: 202. Show Me 203. Rick Wakeman solo > 204. Wonderous Stories > 205. And You And I 206. Heart Of The Sunrise 207. Magnification 208. Don't Kill The Whale 209. Long Distance Runaround > 210. Whitefish 211alt. Awaken 212alt. Roundabout Note regarding the 2-CD option/version: Since the 3-CD version runs 164:07 (as already noted above), I needed to lose a little over 4 minutes to get it under 160 minutes. First, I was able to very successfully delete 3:01 worth of audience applause in-between Track 211 "Awaken" and Track 301 "Roundabout"...you can't even tell it's missing! And secondly, if you: (1) can live without 2:00 worth of announcements in Track 101, and (2) don't mind sticking the "Happy Birthday improv" at the end of Disc #1 (since it's sort of a one-off song, anyway), you can burn the show to 2 discs using the track numbers noted above (just make sure you use 211alt for "Awaken" and 212alt for "Roundabout"...these versions have the 3:01 of applause removed from them and they play seemlessly together). Burned in this manner, without gaps between tracks, CD #1 will run 79:09 and CD #2 will run 79:56. YES!!! (pun intended) ALD (assisted listening device) soundboard recordings are usually knocked for their "thin" sound quality (high amount of treble, not enough bass), but I don't think that's a real issue here at all. As such, Jim's files have been unaltered for sound quality (i.e., no EQ performed)--if some of you prefer to have more bass in your ALD recordings, I'll let you do your own EQ work since it then becomes a matter of personal taste. As for me, I think the show sounds great, as-is. Jim Fiesler notes: (regarding his ALD-SBD shows): "ALDs (fm-sbd) perfect captures in most or all cases..however somewhat lacking bass..more than regular fm..The best place to rec these shows was from the park lot..! the signal was the best there..!" If you decide to download this show, won't you please consider posting a comment on the show's board? It only takes a moment, and believe me, it takes A LOT longer to prepare/upload a show for others to enjoy than it does to download and run. And won't you please consider thanking Jim for this mighty fine show? Generously donated by Jim Fiesler (undiscokidd), and uploaded on DIME by TheCommish October 2008 |
