Taper's Notes:
I always liked YES, I was never a diehard fan like I was with Rush, but I got into alot of their stuff and had seen them a few times. One time was just a couple years before this in 2002 and I will admit I wasn't really into that show, maybe it was just the "shed" vibe that just didn't seem to fit with the atmosphere too well. But when they announced the 35th Anniversary Tour and I saw it would be at indoor arenas here, I figured I'd give them another try and I'm glad I did as I really enjoyed the 2 FL shows I saw and got me back into them a bit more after the 2002 one.
Upon learning they were having a pre-sale and that the shows were slated to be set-up as more intimate "theater" seating inside the arenas, I was lucky enough to score some killer seats and for this one I was 16th row DFC which turned out to be a great view and some seriously great sound to say the least ;) The crowd around me was pretty good, you will hear them as you do at most YES shows, but they are not too bad at all and the music mostly does the talking on this one! I am not a big fan of "acoustic sections" in live concerts overall, but that portion they did a nice job on and I enjoyed it very much. But the full on electric songs were what I was there for and they did not disappoint!! Some totally mindblowing versions of many songs throughout from Sweet Dreams and Yours Is No Disgrace to the insane version of Ritual really shined!! It was also nice to hear them play Mind Drive and South Side Of The Sky was just wicked awesome ;) If you are a YES fan, diehard or casual, you need this one to crank on up!!! :)
Once again I'd like to say a big thanks to SiriusJoe for mastering this puppy to disc from my DAT!! :)
