I missed the Drama tour, and have been wanting to hear some of that stuff for a very, very long time. I started off in the general admission section underneath the balcony overhang. Not exactly ideal for recording. During the set break, I saw the 2 guys I went with sitting just in front of the soundboard. They somehow found 4 unoccupied seats, 3 rows in front of the board, dead f'ing center, in a sold out show, in a theater that only holds 1,500 without seating. Hot damn! This recording is pretty rough. It is in need of a good mastering, and I have no time/inclination in the foreseeable future to do that. Clipping is the biggest problem. All I have done is what is required to get it posted. It was recorded with the H-2s internal mics on the high gain setting, which provides for some distortion throughout the show. The sound in the theater was awesome. This recording does not accurately reflect it. There is plety of crowd sound during the first set. The folks in front of me realized I was recording about halfway through the set, and stopped talking. The 2nd set sounds much better, but still has the distortion. Especially during the louder/bassier parts. That's what I get for not checking the settings before recording. Oh well. However, Howe's solo pieces sound great. If anyone wants to remaster it, please do so. I'd love to hear it. If someone wants a copy of the raw master to work on, as it was straight from the SD cards, PM me. We'll figue it out. Special thanks to Gary for allowing me to pay it forward 17 years later... |
