Here we are 19 months later, and most of the rare material has been dropped, and we're left with the old standards. The thing about the "old standards" is that the crowd seems to love them. It's obvious they play them to please the casual fan. There were a few people sitting around me who hadn't seen Yes in a few years, and didn't even know Jon Anderson is no longer part of the group. Yet, they still had a great time and left with a smile on their face. At least the songs they did play, they played very well. The pace seemed a bit better than when I saw them in February in Northampton, and last summer on the Cape. Maybe playing in front of an arena crowd gives them new life! The sound was quite good, probably the best I've heard at this arena (at least from the seventh row in the center section). The crowd around me was pretty respectful, but still energetic. There is not a lot of audience distraction on the recording. The recording came out nice, though it took me longer than usual to get the sound just right on this. I just hope that next time I see them, the setlist is a bit fresher, maybe with some new material....or Jon! -- MP June 2010 |
