Starship Trooper Lineage: SS-DSM6 > SS-PA3x > ocm R44 Mastering: FLAC > Wavelab 6.1 > dbPowerAmp (Dither to 16 bit) > CDWAV > dbPowerAmp > FLAC Recorded by: jb Comments: It's not often I share recordings made by others, but a friend of mine recently sent me four different recordings he made of this show (as well as an "on the fly" matrix of two of the recordings). He graciously allowed me to share this here. The recordings he sent were all very nice. His equipment is high-end compared to my recording gear. That was clearly evident on first listen. The one issue with all the recordings is the wind. Evidently it was really windy, and while there is no loud wind noises, it did cause a sort of "swhishiness" to the sound, as the wind blew the sound around this open-air amphitheatre. I selected this particular recording to post here, as the SS DSM6 mics picked up the least amount of this swishy wind sound. Mastering was done with Wavelab, very conservatively. Basically, just some light EQ adjustments and volume amplification. There is a track 0, of preshow ambiance that was included, that I did not include on the artwork. I didn't want to remove any of what was sent to me. I think that despite the wind, it's an awesome recoring, and well worth a listen. I plan to share both the 16 bit CD ready version, as well as the 24 bit version. Artwork is included in the torrent. The photos are from the actual show. PLEASE DO NOT USE AS A SOURCE FOR A MATRIX. Please share this recording in unaltered lossless quality. -- MP September 2015 |
