This show was not listed on the Yes website, and wasn't listed on Mohegan Sun's webpage either. I really couldn't figure out how tickets were distributed. I did manage to get some though! :) I'm glad I did. This wasn't the full "Royal Affair" line up. This was only Asia and Yes. This was a great show, and I love how this iteration of Yes isn't afraid to play some of the less played stuff in the Yes "Song Book" as Steve calls it. The highlight of course, was "Gates Of Delirium" which sounds tighter than the Bethlehem show IMO. Alan joined the band on drums from "America" to the end of the set, with the exception of the main part of "Gates" where Jay took over, with Alan replacing him for the "Soon" section. Alan did not stay out on stage playing a little drum kit during "Gates" as he did in Bethlehem. Jay was playing various percussiuon instruments while Alan was drumming. It was worth the price of admission, even though the tickets were technically free. This is the best recording I've gotten in this arena. I'm pleasantly surprised as to how well this turned out. Sound is crisp and clear, and there isn't too much crowd distraction after "Firebird Suite", which has some chatter and noise as people were making their way to their seats. I recorded the Asia opening set, but for whatever reason that show doesn't sound nearly as good (despite having three of the same performers). The Asia set will be posted later. Artwork is included but the photographs are from the next show in White Plains, as I didn't have my camera at this show. PLEASE DO NOT USE AS A SOURCE FOR A MATRIX. Please share this recording in unaltered lossless quality. If you need to remaster, or something, let me know, and I can provide the undedited raw master (without EQ/volume tweaks) for you to use. -- MP June 2019 |
