We had the Anderson Ponty shows in the spring, a great Yes tour in the summer, and now Anderson Rabin Wakeman. Like it or not, the classic lineup will never be again. I'm okay with that. I've enjoyed the recent Yes tours, especially the shows this past summer. And now I have these shows to enjoy as well. I am a bit disappointed with the setlist. I would have loved if they hit the Rabin era a bit more. This setlist is pretty standard stuff. I guess it is a good starting place for the ARW unit, and hopefully future tours will bring more variety. They have definitely gotten much tighter than the opening shows from Florida. Despite a couple minor flubs, there is a freshness that seems to come through with the performance. Once again I made two recordings. I was going to two different external microphone recordings like I did the Yes show from Albany earlier this year. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I'm still getting used to the CA11 microphones. Even with recording level set to 8, I still had to boost the volume drastically despite the fact that I was sitting about 10 feet away from a giant speaker. The show came out nice, and while I would have loved to hear how my older SP-SPSB-8's (AT831's) would have sounded, I'm pretty sure they would not have handled the bass response as well as the CA11's did. There is very little annoying crowd noise, surprising for a Yes show in Boston. I'm sure there were the usual idiots, but luckily they weren't sitting near me this time. I think the recording came out very nice. Artwork is included in the torrent. The photos are from the actual show. PLEASE DO NOT USE AS A SOURCE FOR A MATRIX. Please share this recording in unaltered lossless quality. If you need to remaster, or something, let me know, and I can provide the undedited raw master (without EQ/volume tweaks) for you to use. This version 2 remaster sounds less bassy than version 1 of this same recording which has too much bass. The volume has been increased. -- MP October 2016 |
