Outro Lineage: dpa4021 > ocmR44 (Not sure what battery box/preamp was used with the microphones) Mastering: Wavelab 6.1 (downsample to 16 bit /reassameble sections) > CDWAV (tracking) > dbPowerAmp (FLAC) Recorded by: jb Tracked by: Relayer35 Comments: Four sources and seven days ago, a taper friend of mine that I've known for years sent me 17+ GB of 24bit/96khz WAV files that encompassed four different recordings of this show. In my opinion, the recordings were all pretty great. His gear is more high end than mine, and I thought the recordings sounded good as delivered. This was "Source 1", and was one of the sources I used to make the matrix I posted earlier. This is the raw recording. No processing was done to the recording, other than downsampling the 24 bit source to 16 bit. There is very little crowd distraction, which makes for a nice clean recording. It was very interesting to hear how the tour has progressed since I saw a couple shows early in the tour. Despite the three leads all fighting colds, the band seems so much tighter now. I'm kind of envious of the people getting to see the show later in the tour. Unfortunately, the taper arrived late and the recording starts near the end of "Perpetual Change" and "Cinema" is not included at all. In fact, you can hear the music "fade in" as the taper was walking into the venue and getting closer to his seat. Normally, I would have waited a bit to see if an alternate complete recording turned up that could be used as a patch, but this is the only taper I know recording shows in Salt Lake City, so it's doubtful an alternate source will surface. Artwork is included in the torrent. Unlike my usual artwork, the photos included are not from this show, but from one of the shows I attended earlier this year. -- MP November 2016 |
