As luck would have it, they announced they were coming to Bonner Springs - a good thing since I can get free tickets to shows at this venue. I wonder if this place was chosen because they couldn't get into the Midland Theater (even Memorial Hall may have worked for something like this). The show was enjoyable, if a bit subdued. I wondered at some point if downtuning had happened and it seems that some of this has been downtuned by a half-step (Anderson is nearly 80 though, so I don't begrudge him). If I had any complaint, it's that Richie Castellano's bass is a bit low in the mix for a show involving this type of music (Tapehead2's recording also seems to reflect a low-mixed bass guitar). I am also bummed we did not get Awaken, but I am more pleased that I got to see the show at all since it's the closest I will come to seeing Yes. I did not put a HPF on this as I think my capture here was not too bad (I was in the VIP boxes at the edge of the second row of seats). If you can see a whole show, so much the better. If you can see this show at all and you like this music, do it. You won't be sorry (Carl Palmer as the opener is also worth the price - for he is a most excellent finesse drummer). If you are downsampling to burn to CD, split this however you want. It is somewhat set up for disc 1 to end with Heart of the Sunrise. |
