I was assured by the seller that this tape contains the whole performance. Well, it contains ~ 95% of the performance. I wanted to upload this on Dime because a lot of people were bemoaning the fact that 1987 Yes shows are hard to find and also to try and pay back all the wonderful people that have given me and us so much wonderful music. I don't usually upload incomplete shows but this one sounds really good, I think that it MAY be rare and it IS ~ 95% complete, so I'll give you a brief rundown of the recording, good points and bad. First, the good points: 1) As mentioned above, this recording is almost complete. 2) There is no distortion present. There are no speed problems or any other serious faults to prevent you from enjoying this show. 3) This is a very clear recording. The vocals & instruments come through very clearly and distinctly. I think that the taper was very close to the stage when making this recording. Second, the bad (not very bad) points: 1) There is a bit of hiss. Not too bad, but you'll hear it from time to time. 2) This is probably the worst point about the recording: the taper(s) was/were not very good at taping a show ; he was probably a rank amateur. He managed to miss about 5 minutes of AYAI ; how he managed to do this I do not know. Hitting the pause switch, hitting the stop button, your guess is as good as mine. He also brought along a bunch of people who could not keep their mouths shut. Luckily, the music drowns out these clowns ~ 90% of the time, but you'll hear some talking here and there. It's not too bad, but it is annoying. During the intro and during Almost Like Love, a female friend asks the taper about a dozen times if the tape deck is working. I promise that this will grate on your nerves severely. There is also The Case of The Wandering Bobby ; I'll let you listen to the show to discover what I'm talking about... So there you have it. This is the raw recording that I've had lo these many years. I changed NOTHING about this recording except to track it and to remove one 3 minute stretch of applause between songs. No music is missing except for what was discussed above. This show fits on 2 80 min. CDs. CD 1 = Tracks 1 - 8. CD 2 = Tracks 9 - 17. I checked my setlist against the one at Forgotten Yesterdays and MIGHT have misnamed two songs, both instrumentals. If I did, feel free to correct me with a post. Also, if you have this show in a complete and superior version, POST IT, BY ALL MEANS !!!That's about all that I can think of to say, so let's wrap this up. Finally, please don't buy, sell or convert this show to mp3 or any other lossy format. Please seed this as long as you can. Please trade this freely as it probably is uncirculated. This show will be a welcome addition to any Yes fan's collection. I think that, even with the missing 5 minutes of AYAI, most of you will really love this show. I will post a sample to help some of you decide whether or not to download it. So, as Mr. Natural is so fond of saying, have fun, don't freak out and enjoy the concert ! |
