If you've got a better copy, PLEASE up it. If not, enjoy this show. Quality - 8.5-9.0/10 very good plus to excellent minus audience analog recording, low gen CD 1: 11 tracks, 75:21 CD 2: 9 tracks, 72:36 TT: 147:57 This is the ENTIRE concert, with the exceptions of a tape flip (?) and numerous DEAFENING applause edits. I didn't see or tape this concert so this will be relatively quick. I got this concert in trade about 15 years ago from some guy north of Chicago who was too cheap to trade using high bias tapes. He didn't get a whole lot of trades after a while from me or anybody else. He was also one of those morons who, when putting a 40 minute recording on a 45 minute tape side, would not fast forward side A to the end and start the rest of the recording at the beginning of side B. He would just stop the tape, flip it over and start the rest of the show 5 minutes into side B. Now you youngsters in the audience (because of advancing technology) probably don't know what the fuck old Uncle Jojo's talking about but I'm sure there are a bunch of old guys reading this and shaking their heads going "Yeah, he's right, that guy sure was an asshole.." unless they were doing the same thing. In which case Uncle Jojo bids them a cheery FUCK YOU TOO. Seriously, it's a pain in the ass to listen to or dub tapes made that way but with the disappearance of cassette tapes, I guess it doesn't really matter. I first thought that I was missing about 90 seconds of CTTEdge because of this stupid practice but with a little careful editing BEFORE applause removal, I have reason to believe that the master (whoever has it) is also missing ~ 90 seconds of CTTE. The above FY info says that the circulated aud recording is ~ 155 minutes long. My tape before editing is 154:40, so that's good enough for me and allows me to believe that the master is also missing part of that tune. Enough of that... This is a very good to excellent minus show. There are no problems with distortion or speed fluctuation and the recording was made probably fairly close to the stage. Everything's clear and there's hardly any talking except for low-level taper muttering. There's a little hiss but nothing earth-shattering. There's a cut in CTTE around the 18 min. mark and it's seamless but jolting ; you can't miss it. The SQ of Sweet Dreams is not as good as the rest of the show. Dunno why.... Finally a word about the applause removal. I recorded this tape onto CD at a fairly high level. I did not realize until it was too late that the applause at this level was DEAFENING !!! It blew out yer eardrums !!! I removed between 6 & 7 minutes from the whole show which is why my TT is ~ 148 minutes and not 155 minutes. It makes for a much more enjoyable listening experience. You'll thank me, believe me...That's about all that I have to rant about so let's get this show on the road ! Finally, please don't buy, sell or convert this show to mp3 or any other lossy format. Please seed this as long as you can. Please trade this freely as it probably is fairly uncirculated. This show will be a welcome addition to any ABWH fan's collection. I will post a sample to help some of you decide whether or not to download it. So, as Mr. Natural is so fond of saying, have fun, don't freak out and enjoy the concert ! jojogunne 10/7/2009 PS: I'm always looking for ABWH shows, early Yes shows from Pittsburgh, PA prior to ~ 1984 and especially Led Zeppelin, Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, PA 1975/02/01 which is one of a few Holy Grail shows I would love to get. How about Patti Smith, Leona Theater, Homestead, PA summer 1977 ? So, please help me out here if you can. Live, be well and enjoy this rare show !!! |
