Chuck K The reviews of the concerts at this venue list the capacity at 8,200. The capacity for the '79 show may have been because it was in the round. However, for the 90125 show and this show, the capacity was 10,300. Gregory Uryasz As far as what I can remember from the Big Generator show, musically,it was great, the only thing that really let on that it was the first show of the tour were the missed cues (Visuals were to be projected onto "inflatable" screens that didn't always inflate when they were supposed to or as big as they were supposed to) I was particularly impressed with Trevor's acoustic 12-string sound from his electric guitar. The stage was large and clean (not much different from 90125). John's voice was in top shape. He does tend to get a little "chatty" between songs (and a little "flakey" but that's what ya gotta love about him). Does anything phase this man? This is probably the closest I had ever been to the band and it was evident that Chris/Trevor were having a riot! I appreciate all of Yes' incarnations but I'm really going to miss Trevor live! Being a bass player, this was heaven to be that close to one of my biggest inspirations! One thing I noticed that just doesn't come across in the videos is how "hard" Chris plays his bass (referring to the amount of pressure applied when he plucks his strings with a pick)! I was convinced that his distinct sound was a result of processing and effects but I'm sure a lot of it is controlled by his style. I wonder if he's ever broken any strings? Over all? A great show! I can't believe the amount of musicianship/showmanship these guys sweat out after all these years! Pete Whipple 'Almost Like Love/Sunrise' is just an instrumental version with the main riff from 'Heart Of The Sunrise' added at the end. 'Love Will Find A Way' is an acoustical version of the song. 'Holy Lamb/Wurm' is the BG song but instead of the album version coda they played 'Wurm' from 'Starship Trooper' which included parts of the solo from 'Holy Lamb.' |
