This was one of three great 90125 tour shows that I saw. The band was tighter that an early show in Milwaukee and the show was brilliant. Rabin was on fire and Squire was having a blast. Great night! It seemed that as the tour went on, Tony Kaye really came out of his shell and really started to wail. He was a blast to watch that night. I got a ticket for drinking in the parking lot that came back to haunt me 10 years later.
I went to this show - and it was the first of two times in my life I got to meet members of Yes! My father had a meeting in the hotel across the road from the Coliseum and my friend and I tagged along. We realized that the band was likely staying at the hotel, so we went exploring. We got on the elevator with a guy who had a pass and he told us to wait downstairs in the lobby and we could ask for autographs. Jon and Chris came through and we got to chat while they waited for the limo to take them across the street. They were very nice and told us to hurry because they were going right on stage. We made it just in time to see the end of the cartoon they ran before the show!
Actually I remember going to a 90125 Tour show in Madison WI at the Dane County Coliseum in April 1984, but I can't be sure that the date was the 11th. I had seen the show in Milwaukee in March and decided to try the Madison show on a whim. I bought tickets at the door that afternoon and ended up with seats in section AA, Row 2. Not knowing anything about the Coliseum, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the seats were in the second row of the section just to the right of the stage! I enjoyed the antics of Chris all night!
Obviously they released these seats after setting up the stage and discovering they could squeeze a few more people in. I just got lucky, because from where I was sitting the place looked packed to the rafters.
At one point during the show Jon came onstage with an acoustic guitar to introduce a song (Soon?). He told a story about buying that guitar at a music shop on State St in Madison during a prior tour. Is it true? Who knows?!?
