This was a nice show in a small venue. Jon sounded very good as usual and really carried the show. The set list was very lame but Endless Dream was excellent. The Purple Haze ending was unexpected for sure. Heart of the Sunrise (as usual) was the highlight of the show.
When we drove down to Richmond, we found there was NOTHING to do in the town. We had gotten there a good 3 hours early, and just drove around trying to find something to do, to no avail.
About 30 minutes before the gates opened, a torrnetial downpour ensued. We had tickets underneath the sheltered part of the outdoor venue, but we'd have to swim to get there!
Well, the band was pretty tight. I don't know if they could see how UNFILLED the seats were (about 13 of the seats under the pavilion were empty, and not many people sat on the grass, thanks to the rainstorm). But regardless, the band trudged on. I was hoping to hear some of the other songs (Hearts, Cinema, etc.) but alas that was not meant to be. The set was short (much to my disappointment), but what they played they played pretty well. Although they didn't have the finesse of the "Classic Yes" sound, they were pretty rocking good.
During Roundabout, my wife was stunned to hear them suddenly launch into "Purple Haze." Kinda scary.
