Jim Gordon I was in the eigth row, center stage, and I couldn't hear the orchestra at all!I guess their sound mix was goin' thru the big speakers hanging from the ceiling, which were right above us...So mostly I was hearing the sound from their stage amps...Rightous,my brothers,rightous...Them boys can play! Michael Shogi Just got back from "Masterworks with an Orchestra 2001". I must say that I enjoyed this one even more than last year's Masterworks tour. They played their three long ones: CTTE, Gates of Delirium, and Ritual (with tympanis). But, this time out, they contrasted these songs with more shorter numbers, like Long Distance Runaround and Wondrous Stories, which broke up the monotony a bit. Also, Steve had a two-song solo, acoustic spot, which was nice (and brilliant, as usual). No opening act. (How could there be one?) Wonderful orchestra. Wonderful intro to the show by the orchestra, right into CTTE. Better sound than last year. The major problems I could hear were that the keyboard wasn't turned up enough, you couldn't hear the orchestra at all on some numbers, and someone (Chris?) was really out of tune during Starship Trooper at the end. Other than that, this was a wonderful show. I understand that they are going to release it as a live record. Good move. The band seems much more at ease with the longer numbers now. Yes are just fabulous singer/musicians. |
