Adam Bulandra Yes tonight in Katowice reached the highlights. It was combination of excellent workshop, as usual, magic and vitality that yes music brings. Ion still sings perfectly with great sense of melody... Steve was just Steve, incredible, i do not know hoe it is possibble to play so many sounds with out any effort... Alan, the shining star of today`s concert... Some time ago during us tour someone said that "ritual" is Chris song, i don`t agree, it is a song of Chris and Alan... He realy made his best. And finally Chris, the best bass guitar player in the world. He makes the yes sound so special and powerfull... Tom Brislin a bit in the shadow, and i considered him to be a bit nervous, but he had his time in "starship trooper" for example and in "And you and i". The music was fresh and perfect, no mistakes. Sound was perfect, the show was brilliant, with all the lights, choregraphy... Orchestra made their best and gave something different and special. There were some snacky things also, in "close to the edge" for example, that had never been before in studio or live recordings, that means yes music is going forward and is in constant evolution. Thanks Ion and company for a new album "magnification" which i consider to be one of the best yes albums ever... i love especially "Dreamtime", song resamble "on the sillent wings of freedom" ("tormato" things)... I wish they played it. I would like to hear also "we agree" but all the songs on new album are fantastic like "in the presence of", played on concert, but also "give love each day" amongst others... I have one wish... Please yes, do not forget "Dreamtime", and put it to your setlist for future performances... I am going to Warsaw to see you again, and enyoy your wonderfull music once again. Here are the setlist of Katowice concert: 1. Opening (intro of " Give love each day" ) 2. Close to the edge 3. Orchestral intro 4. Long Distant Rounaround 5. Don`t go 6. In the presence of 7. Gates of dellirium 8. Steve Howe solo including Mood for a day 9. Perpetual Change (without orchestra) 10.Starship trooper (without orchestra, except Wurm) 11.And you and i 12.Ritual nous sommes du solei 13.I`ve seen all good people 14.Roundabout (abridged)- bis aprox. 2h50'
before 'Don't Go' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:Thank you. Thank you so much. It's wonderful to be with you this evening. Two years ago we were here [???]. It's wonderful to be here with you again tonight. We we have..uh a new album coming out into the shops maybe yesterday, maybe tomorrow. Who knows but it's a song and an album called 'Magnification' and thank you all. Thank you so much and we're going to do two new songs for you now and the first song is..uh love is everything, everything, everything and you should not take love for granted and..or as you say in Polish 'not taking love for granted' okay? So here we go. This is called 'Don't Go'. before 'Tour Song' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. Thank you. When..uh when we were recording..uh this album..uh a lot of the time we get together in the studio. Just the four of us. There'd be me and Steve, Chris and Alan White here. Alan White here. He would come in and..uh practice the piano around twelve o'clock everyday. Things like this this. 'Tour Song' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:Oh it's so great to be in Poland just once again. The sun is shining and everything so groovy. Yeah. Yeah. before 'In The Presence Of' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:So that was, that is basically what we'd do. I like that. And then one day Alan started to play this melody and we wrote this song in two hours. Two or three hours. It's like..uh we..we call it very spontaneous music..uh like you say in Polish 'spontaneous'. That's the same word isn't it? Spontaneous. How do you say in Polish? Spontaneous. Hey that's the one. Yes. Love it. One of those. So here's a song called 'In The Presence Of'. before 'Gates Of Delirium, The' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. Thank you. Some new songs [???] album is called 'Magnification'. Please everybody, everybody go and buy the record. Please, please, please, please. If you can find it. If you can find it. I'd like to introduce you to. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful people mostly from Warsaw Poland. We have William Katel and the European Festival Orchestra. When we decided to..uh tour the music with the orchestra. We started thinking about diving very deep into the history of Yes music. [gargles water] Ah, that better. So we looked to the idea of doing something very sorta crazy, wacky, crazy, strange and we had a song which we did in the seventies all about the idea that we are always surrounded by tribal warfare and we are still surrounded by tribal warfare thirty years later. What is going on? C'mon. So here's the song it's called 'Gates Of Delirium'. before 'Corkscrew' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you. Many years ago, I..I wrote a..a poem and..uh I remember it was all about solidarity and..uh I can remember the first words. before 'Mood For A Day' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Steve Howe:Thank you very much. Thank you. Well it's called 'Corkscrew'. This piece of music I'd like to play for you know, I wrote many, many years ago for my beautiful wife and..uh her name's Janet and it's called 'Mood For A Day'. before 'Perpetual Change' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:The amazing Steve Howe. Okay we're going to do a song. before 'Starship Trooper' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. We..uh I was..uh outside..uh before the show and I met these three fans. Guys, one girl, two guys going to come and see the show and..uh very young. I said "Do you know..uh 'Close To The Edge'?" "oh, yeah, yeah it's good". "Do you know 'Gates Of Delirium'?" "Yes, yes we know that one". I said "Wow, that's fantastic". These are young people, you know? And I said "Do you know 'Starship Trooper'?" and they said, and they said "Starship Trooper, that's a movie". I said "No, no not the movie". It's a song. Okay. Here we go. 'Starship Trooper'. before 'And You And I' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:Woo! Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Uh..we..we..uh we traveled from..uh Vienna to..uh [???] on the train. On the train, you know? On the speedway train. The train that takes two days to get from there to there and then it stops and then they said "Passport". Stop the passport. Constant and. But they had a very good restaurant on the train. Very nice. We drank a lot of beer okay. We had a wonderful time. I want to dedicate this next song to my wonderful beautiful wife, my Jane. Travels with me all the time. She's so wonderful. This is..uh a song that..uh we recorded many years, seventy-two I think we recorded this song and we still love to play this song for you. before 'Ritual' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. Thank you. I would say that..uh many, many years we we've been making music and many years a lot of you people have been listening to us and it's really great to be with you once again. I think the idea we get together, we make music. We make music together. Not just here but you as well. It kinda..uh connection, you know? As you say in Polish 'Connection'. But as we say sometimes, it is a 'Ritual' and..uh we would like to play a song from 'Topographic Oceans' time and the song is called 'Ritual'. before 'I've Seen All Good People' transcribed by: Pete Whipple Jon Anderson:Chris Squire on bass guitar. Chris Squire. Here he is on drums, Mr. Alan White. Alan White on drums. On keyboards we have Mr. Tom Brislin all the way from New Jersey. Of course Steve Howe. Let's hear it for Mr. William Katel and the..uh European Festival Orchestra. All the way from Poland. Thank you all very much. For coming along this evening. Thank you. Woo! In the key oh. We're going to sing this song together. If you can remember this song please sing along. Here we go. |
