Richard Averdahl Incredible show, played GOD, but no Owner or Magnification. Rest as other setlists, amazing. Small fight in the audience too, people got showed out from like row 5. Sound was good, but Chris was annoyed about his own monitors and his side of the PA system from the first note, and really didn't look that inspired for the rest of the evening. SH was on fire, Jon's voice perfect, Alan could hit his drums a bit more aggresive I think, and was at some places out of synch with Chris. All in all, an 8 out of 10 show for me personally, for my girlfriend 11 out of 10!! CV/JT Briefly: Monday; I spend 15 minutes with Jon Anderson and his Janeee, with Jon waxing on about the making of Tales. Later, Alan White buys me a beer. I speak to the guys making a behind-the-scenes documentary - their cameras are stuck in Copenhagen, and in a fit of hubris, I suggest that I might be able to help. Tuesday: the phone rings, it's the docu guys asking if I might help them to get cameras. Panic. Later, Chris asks me for directions to the dressing room and I see Yes rehearse this track called 'Magnification' for the first time since recording. Even later, Chris says he's never heard of alt.music.yes. Daniel Reichberg For the first time after ABWH twelve long years ago, Yes palyed in Sweden yesterday evening. Us fans had been waiting loyally and patiently, and we were rewarded. But it all started on monday night already. At the hotel bar, some of us had the pleasure of meeting Jon and Alan. Very friendly men in deed. Autographs were signed, and questions answered. Then came tuesday, and the great FAN GATHERING. Wonderful to meet so many fellow Yesfans, wonderful the moment when Yes themselves stepped in through the doors! I had the privilige of asking the many questions Scandinavian Yesfans had sent in, and all four Yes members answered informatively and in high spirits. Lots of little jokes, Steve even hid under the table when South Side Of The Sky was mentioned! And then the gig. You know all the details already, so I won't bore you with that. But it was a magic evening. Two years ago, the idea of hearing Gates and Ritual live was a hopeless dream. A few hours ago it was reality. And such great, great versions. Especially Chris gave us everything. No, all of them gave us everything. And the audience responded properly. All smiles on stage, and i could sense the thought of "why haven't we come here for so many years?"... Was anything bad? Yes: you could hardly hear the orchestra at all. And I wouldn't have minded a few more Magnification songs. But it feels somewhat ridiculous to complain after such a magic event. Thank You, Jon, Chris, Alan and Steve for bringing this tour to Sweden! And please don't let us wait another twelve years until next time! Jon: In Finland, a woman came up to me and said that she didn't understand a word of my lyrics from the 70's, and I answered 'neither can I'! Chris: Now, THAT was funny! |
