Bill Bruford's first show with Mabel Greer's Toyshop. They rehearsed at the Lucky Horseshoe Café on London's Shaftesbury Road during the day and performed live in the evening. According to Bruford (tongue in cheek), they played Wilson Pickett's "In The Midnight Hour" for "about two hours". (Yesgigs)
Q: The last appearance of Mabel Greer's Toyshop at The Marquee was on the 2nd of May 1967, supporting The Nice. Do you remember if this was the same night when Jon Anderson joined onstage for the cover of Wilson Pickett's 'In The Midnight Hour'?
A: I don't remember this. I think I had left the band by then and I was in Neat Change, but this is my perception. And somebody has said that Bill (Bruford) was playing drums, I don't even remember that gig. I do remember playing somewhere, certainly not The Marquee, where some guy came up onstage and I think it was Jon, but I hadn't been introduced to him and I think it was some university in London, and that's all I remember. - Peter Banks
