before 'I've Seen All Good People' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. Thank you so much for coming out tonight. Thank you. We appreciate it so much. We’re going to sing a song. Please sing along, if you know the song. It’s in the key of G! before 'America' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. Thank you. America, America. [??] it’s a very amazing place. We’ve been driving over America for the last month, six weeks. See how beautiful the lands are here, the creation of energy here. It’s a beautiful place. We’re all searching, we’re all searching for the true America. Here’s a Paul Simon song about the true America to come. Here we go. before 'Clap' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Jon Anderson:Thank you. Let’s hear it for Steve Howe on guitar, here! after 'Clap' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Steve Howe:Thank you so much. Thank you very much. before 'Wonderous Stories' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Jon Anderson:I was looking, I was looking back at the ahh, the origins of that song, and I’d just got back from Jamaica, in 1971 I think it was, I was there. Reggae! (sings) Long distance runaround, come on, long time waiting for someone to bring me ganja. I still remember the dream there, I still remember the time we got so high! Hey. Well, l just, I think we’ll re-record it. Okay. We spent some time making an album, ahh, in Switzerland and ahh, it was a very beautiful, beautiful part of the world. if you ever get the chance to travel around Europe. Switzerland is quite an amazing place, it’s so clean! It’s so clean. Chris Squire: You can eat off the streets. Jon Anderson: You can even eat off the streets! Here’s a song we wrote one morning and in the afternoon we actually recorded it. A song about waking up and doing good. before 'Roundabout' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. Thank you. [??] Mr. Chris Squire, ladies and gentlemen. Chris has been everywhere, he’s seen everything. Chris Squire: So ahh, this little story is for the benefit of the people who weren’t [??]. And it’s about, um, about ‘Roundabout’, ahh, when we, when we all ready for the, ahh, 35th anniversary ahh, ‘Utimate Yes’ CD. And then, Alan and I were in a hotel in Tokyo, recovering from a massage, like you do when you’re in Tokyo. And ahh, and what happened then was we said how is it that we will do this version of ‘Roundabout’ for the acoustic record. Alan suggested, “well why don’t we try doing an American blues, Chicago type shuffle”. And I said “right, that sounds like a good idea.” So then, ha, then we got to the studio, I said to Rick, “can you put your pen down please and give us a good Chicago blues shuffle.” And he went “alright mate, alright then.” And so he went (Rick plays). Fucking brilliant! before 'Owner Of A Lonely Heart' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. Thank you. [??] Alan White has got on the kilt. Here we go, Alan White! (Jon sings a Scottish jig about kilts). Wooh! Okay. We’re going to do one, a song, Alan’s going to introduce it with a paradiddle, which is, that’s a paradiddle, if anybody wants to know. Three paradiddles is more like, sort of thing, to this song. Please sing along with the chorus. Help us get through this one. Here we go. before 'And You And I' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. It’s great to play for you tonight. [??]. There’s no business like show business. [??]. We’re going to carry on with this song, and a lot of you know this piece of music, we’ve been playing it for many years. And ahh, every, every now and again it just sort of shock, I’m in shock sometimes when I wake up when we’re on tour and there is still so many people that like to come and see the band, we appreciate it. And as you can see, we still love playing the music, especially this next song, we’ve been playing it ever since we wrote the song and at that time we were sort of living in a wonderful cocoon. Ahh, we were just getting the success and we’d toured America a couple of times. So we had this feeling about music being everything and you know, the business and everybody out there, kind of screw them, you know. We just want to make music! We just wanted to make the best music we could possibly make and ahh, this is what happened. This kind of song that comes around just once. Once in a lifetime you get a chance to want to create this kind of a song. before 'Awaken' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Jon Anderson:Thank you so much. Thank you so much. It’s hard to imagine, every morning you wake up, every morning you wake up and make that decision about how great the day’s going to be. Every day is just waiting, everything is there, waiting. It’s though, love is everything, nothing else really matters, really [??], except love! We’ve all been fortunate to be together now and again over the years. We think about it, I think about it, awaking, awakening to a better time, awaking to a better time, better time, better times for everybody, everybody, everybody and every thing, everything that surrounds us, very, very magical world that we live in. before 'Starship Trooper' transcribed by: Geoff Dunn Jon Anderson:Wooh! Thank you so much! |
