Hi...I was the DJ at The Penthouse between 1970 and 1981...11 whole years! I saw Yes play the May gig, and they may well have played again the following month. I have a poster (designed by me) featuring 600 artists who played there between 1969 and 1979 (it was sold and staggered on, but without Peter Adams (Rahim) its founder, it collapsed and closed. I was a student then, 18 years old...I'm 55 now, all but, and remember it as a fantastic gig, is all. Coincidentally, Steve Howe's son, Dylan is playing the Scarborough Jazz Festival this year (2006).
PS Scene 1 and 2 was an entirely different gig. I saw the Bonzos there while still at school. I later worked as a DJ there between 1981 and 1983

Two shows are listed for Scarborough - this one and June 5th.
I seem to remember one or even both were at the huge Scene 1 / Scene 2 club.
Yes were not the sort of group usually associated with this club, the usual type of act was Geno Washington or the Bonzo's, or just Motown type records.
The Penthouse often featured Free, also The Rats, who later became Bowie's backing band I think.
Also, the Candlelight was very popular, early appearances by Fleetwood Mac, The Nice, Family, Tull etc.
Anyway, hope someone can add to the late 60s Scarborough music scene, especially some Yes memories.
